Within the implementation of the “SPbSPU Development Program”, Polytechnical University is undergoing various structural changes:
in 2010 while completing the first stage of the program, Joint Science and Technology Institute (JIST) was established. Its foundation started a new stage in Polytechnical University innovation infrastructure development.
Research Institute of Materials and Technologies (RI MT) was established in 2007 in accordance with the plan of strategic development of the University for solving complex scientific and engineering tasks through interdisciplinary polytechnic approach.
Research Institute of Power Engineering (RI PE) main objectives are fundamental and applied research intensification in the of energy-saving solutions and energy efficiency and energy safety increasing technologies.
Research Institute "Machine Building Technologies" (RI MachTech) delivers a full range of services connected with design and output preparation of new industrial products. Among the main services are the following: design of computer CAD-models, 3D scanning, prototyping, small-scale production of plastmass articles, casting of steel and non-ferrous metals as well as CNC machining.
Research Institute of Nanobiotechnologies (RI Nanobio). Combination of the state-of-the-art diagnostics and biological structures investigation methods and highly qualified Institute personnel allows to find complex solutions for the tasks on genomics, proteomics, metabolomics and bioanalytics applying multidisciplinary approaches.
Research Institute of Electronic Systems carries out fundamental and applied research in electronics, radiophysics and telecommunications aimed at invention and implementation of new materials and electronic devices, development of innovation technologies for information transfer and security in the telecommunication systems and networks.
Research Institute "Mathematical Modeling and Intelligent Control Systems" (RI MMICS) carries out fundamental and applied research in the field of mathematic modeling and control over compound physical entities, processes and phenomena.
Research Institute of Nuclear Physics is equipped with the electrophysical plants complex aimed at carrying out works in the sphere of radiation materials science, radiation methods development and implementation in engineering, technology and medicine
Testing Center “Polytechtest” has wide engineering possibilities in the sphere of mechanical tests, metallographic examination and other materials investigations.
