JIST tasks:
Currently JIST consists of innovation and research scientific institutes equipped with advanced facility and possessing highqualifi ed scientifi c and engineering manpower. Each of Research Institutes is consolidated by the common science and technology platform and includes branches, departments, centres and laboratories established on the basis of various University faculties and structural units

2. Materials with special properties, nanotechnologies
3. Power engineering, energy-saving and ecological technologies
4. Information and telecommunication technologies, intelligent systems
The main objective of SPbSPU development within the mentioned priority guidelines is increasing competitiveness of such high-technology national economy branches as: machine-building complex, fuel-energy complex, defense-industrial complex, information technologies and telecommunications as well as transport, construction and others.
